Job Summary:
Our Client, A leading integrated agro-allied company is in need of an experienced Production & Operations Manager with deep expertise in sesame seed processing, packaging, and distribution to spearhead their operational strategy for sesame seed products, ensuring alignment with both local and export market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities
• End-to-End Sesame Processing: Oversee the entire production cycle, from seed intake and cleaning to hulling, drying, and packaging. Develop and implement SOPs that meet international quality standards.
• Design and refine production workflows, ensuring optimal use of machinery, labor, and other resources to maximize throughput while maintaining product quality.
• Work closely with Quality Control teams to monitor product consistency, address production bottlenecks, and meet regulatory requirements in both local and export markets.
• Develop and implement a short- and long-term operational roadmap aligned with the company’s strategic objectives for sesame seed processing.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities through efficient allocation of resources, supply chain improvements, and prudent vendor management.
• Recommend strategies for scaling production capacity, integrating new technologies, and broadening product lines based on market trends and internal growth targets.
• Maintain a strong grasp of local and international sesame markets, including pricing trends, export regulations, and buyer preferences.
• Collaborate with suppliers, logistics providers, and distribution channels to optimize procurement, inventory management, and final product delivery.
• Stay updated on relevant export compliance requirements (e.g., NAQS, NEPC guidelines), ensuring timely certifications and adherence to quality standards.
• Lead a cross-functional operations team, offering mentorship, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with HR to recruit skilled technicians, operators, and quality control personnel.
• Instill a culture of safety and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Establish KPIs such as production efficiency, yield rates, and cost per unit.
Regularly review performance data and implement corrective actions.
• Leverage digital tools (e.g., ERP systems, production tracking software) to gather insights on production bottlenecks, machine utilization, and overall operational performance.
Key Qualifications
• A Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related fields.
• Additional Certifications: Certifications in Supply Chain Management, Quality Management (ISO,HACCP), or Project Management (PMP) are a plus.
• 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in sesame seed or other agro-processing industries.
• Track record of overseeing both local and export-oriented production. Familiarity with Nigeria’s sesame cultivation zones, input/output dynamics, and key export markets (e.g., Asia, the Middle East, Europe).
• Ability to manage complex production processes, including capacity planning and resource allocation.
• Proficiency in data-driven decision-making, use of ERP or supply chain management
tools, and advanced Excel analytics.
• Strong capacity to lead cross-functional teams, communicate objectives clearly, and cultivate a high-performance culture.
